Proposal Site Pictures – 2018 GCGPC Champs – University of South Alabama
As you know the past several years we have been working on the possibility of the University of South Alabama to host a GCGPC contest. This year an opportunity has opened. The April 7, 2018 date is available for the renting of the Mitchell Center on the USA Campus. Based on Easter and WGI Color Guard Championships the April 7 date would be our Championships date.
The Mitchell Center is a large arena similar to the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. We all realize it has long been the tradition of having Circuit Championships at Tate High School. Having it on the USA campus would be a break from that tradition but it would open an opportunity for Tate to host a regular season show earlier giving us all a “higher read” of our shows before Championships and would put our Championships in a large arena similar to most of the circuits in the Southeast Region.
This opportunity was discussed at length at the GCGPC Spring Meeting on May 7, 2017.
In no way should the proposal to move Championships be an indication of any wrong doing or unhappiness in the Tate High School Band Parents or Tate High School. They have ALWAYS done an exemplary job hosting our Championships. This is just an opportunity to host at a large arena as all of the other circuits in the Southeast and giving our units that “Big Arena” experience.
You all have been sent an email with both proposals, to provide feedback on which proposal you would prefer.
Please send feedback/input to the Board at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than May 21, 2017.
